Paws and People wants everyone who visits paws-and-people.org to be able to find information, contact us and use our services, including people with disabilities.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people who are blind or have low vision, are deaf or hard of hearing, or have motor, speech or cognitive disabilities.
What we’ve done
- Added text descriptions (alt text) to meaningful images
- Checked color contrast so text is easy to read
- Made the site usable with a keyboard, with visible focus outlines and a “skip to content” link
- Used clear headings and labels on forms, buttons and links
- Added an accessibility toolbar so you can enlarge text or switch to high contrast
- Test the site with automated tools (such as WAVE, axe and Google Lighthouse), along with manual checks
Known limitations
Some content on this site comes from other companies, and some of our forms are PDF files. We can’t fully control the accessibility of outside content, but we’ll help you get the same information another way.
